Referee Reimbursement Form

REFEREE REIMBURSEMENT POLICY: 

HYS will reimburse referees for initial certification course fees, annual recertification fees and annual national fees assessed for certification, if the person passes the test, and has started to actively work for Hopkinton Youth Soccer. 

By signing and submitting the reimbursement paperwork, you are certifying that you took the course, paid the fees as described above, and agree to work for HYS in the coming year. 

AMENDED POLICY: (August 2025)

Hopkinton Youth Soccer, Inc. has an established policy that would reimburse referees for the cost of initial certification course fees, annual recertification fees and annual national fees assessed for certification, if the person passes the test, and has started to actively work for Hopkinton Youth Soccer.  This is separate from the fees paid to referees for games that they might officiate weekly. 

The intent of this reimbursement policy is to encourage referees to become, and remain, referees for the HYS, and to reduce financial disincentives for doing so. 

ELIGIBILITY FOR REIMBURSEMENT:

  • Referees must work a minimum of eight (8) games for HYS across 2 consecutive seasons to be eligible for reimbursement of annual registration and training expenses.
    • $115 for New Referee course and training
    • $50 for Recertification of returning referees
  • Referees must fill out and submit the required form and attach receipt of payment to the HYS Referee Director (Ray Almeida [email protected]).  By signing and submitting the reimbursement paperwork, the referee is certifying that they took the course, paid the fees as described above, and completed the minimum required number of games for HYS over the past two consecutive seasons. 

The 8-game/2-season requirement was implemented by the HYS Board to ensure a commitment by referees to the HYS.

The Referee Director will confirm, based upon data in the BAYS system, that the referee worked a minimum of eight (8) games for the HYS across two consecutive seasons and is eligible for reimbursement of annual registration and training expenses.
