In-Town Program (1st Grade and 2nd/3rd Grade)

IN-TOWN PROGRAM (1ST AND 2ND/3RD GRADE)

The HYS Town Program is for 1st and 2nd/3rd graders interested in continuing their soccer development.  The In-Town program follows a curriculum created by the New England Revolution Academy.  The plan provides a weekly structure of fun activities and games that are used by volunteer coaches to provide age appropriate development for the players.

1ST GRADE PROGRAM

The Hopkinton Soccer 1st Grade program is for player in the first grade who reside in Hopkinton. Grade enrollment, not age, determines player placement.

It runs for 10 weeks each season.

There are separate sessions for boys and girls.

FORMAT:

  • Teams meet for 75-minutes on Saturdays.
  • The first half of the session is dedicated to practice and developing skills.  Each session will begin with an age group wide demonstration on the weekly skill by a coach from the New England Revolution  Academy.
  • Skills will then be displayed and practiced during the training portion of the session and the small sided game.
  • Games are team-based 4v4 scrimmages with no goalies.  These smaller-sided games enable each child to get more "ball touches" and better develop their ball handling and passing skills, which are essential for higher-level play.

FALL SEASON: 10 Weeks.  It runs from September to November with no session on Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Weekend

SPRING SEASON: 10 Weeks.  It runs from April to June with no session on Memorial Day Weekend.  There are sessions both weekends of April Vacation.

COACHING: This group is coached by a parent volunteer along side our professional NE Revolution Academy coaches.  Each session will begin with an age group wide demonstration on the weekly skill by a professional coach from the NE Revolution Academy.
