Foundations Program (Pre-K and K)

FOUNDATIONS PROGRAM

This is our preliminary program where our littlest players start their soccer career. We strive to make this a FUN introduction to organized sports.

KICKSTART - 45 minutes SUNDAYS

*MUST BE 4 YEARS OLD AND ENROLLED IN PRE-K BY 8/31 TO PARTICIPATE IN THE KICKSTART PROGRAM FOR BOTH FALL AND SPRING SEASONS

The Hopkinton Soccer KickStart program is for Pre-K players who reside in Hopkinton.  It is a grass-roots introductory training program that is packed with fun games and skills that will serve as your child's first soccer building block. Players must turn 4 prior to August 31, 2025 to participate in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 seasons.  Grade enrollment, not age, determines player placement.

It runs for 10 weeks each season.  Each session will focus on the non-competitive, fun development of soccer-related skills, including balance, coordination, and foot skill / ball control.  No soccer experience is necessary.  A parent must be in attendance during the entire session.  

This is a 45 minute clinics that is held on Sundays.

There are separate sessions for boys and girls. 

FALL SEASON: 10 Weeks.  It runs from September to November with no session on Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Weekend

SPRING SEASON: 10 Weeks.  It runs from April to June with no session on Memorial Day Weekend.  There are sessions both weekends of April Vacation.

COACHING: This group is coached by a parent volunteer along side our professional NE Revolution Academy coaches.

Parent Coach Volunteers:

  • Parent volunteer coaches are essential to successfully run this program.
  • Parents can sign up to volunteer on their child's AdminSports registration account.
  • Each team must have two coaches for the program to work effectively.
  • No previous coaching experience is required however all coaches are strongly encouraged to take the online USSA Grassroots Coaches Course.
  • A criminal background check (CORI) will be conducted on all youth coaches per state law.
  • Coaches are required by federal law to complete SafeSport and Concussion trainings.  

New England Revolution Academy Coaching:  At this age group we use the Revolution Coaches for a “Coach the Coach” system. The professional coaches from the New England Revolution Academy will provide support to the volunteer coaches, assisting them in delivering the sessions, but your parent volunteer will still be directly coaching the players.

EQUIPMENT:

  • All players will receive an HYS team t-shirt on their first day with color specific to their team.
  • Players must wear their team shirt each week. On colder days, the shirt must be worn over warmer clothing.
  • Players must wear cleats or sneakers. Soccer cleats are not required, but are recommended.
  • Shin guards are required and soccer socks must completely cover the shin guards so they are not exposed.
  • Each player should a size 3 soccer ball and their own water bottle
  • Players are not allowed to wear jewelry, earrings, hats or anything metal in their hair for safety reasons.

COST: $150 per season

KINDERGARTEN - 60 MINUTES ON SUNDAYS

*MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD AND ENROLLED IN KINDERGARTEN BY 8/31 TO PARTICIPATE IN THE KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM FOR BOTH FALL AND SPRING

The Hopkinton Soccer Kindergarten program is for kindergarten players who reside in Hopkinton. Players must turn 5 prior to August 31, 2025 to participate in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 seasons.  Grade enrollment, not age, determines player placement.

It runs for 10 weeks each season.  The first half of the session is dedicated to practice and developing skills and the second half is team-based scrimmages with 3v3 and no goalies. The objective is to keep the kids active and have them use their feet to move the ball as much as possible. The goals are small and optimized for success.

Teams meet for one hour on Sundays.

There are separate sessions for boys and girls.

Skills will then be displayed and practiced during the training portion of the session and the small sided game
